The Virginia Horse Festival returns to The Meadow Event Park, March 24-26, 2017. This premier event for horse owners, riders and enthusiasts offers three days of shopping, seminars, demos and clinics.
Special guest and international horseman and entertainer Guy McLean will showcase his skills on all three days. Let his demonstrations transport you to the Outback, and experience what it means to be a true Aussie stockman.
New This Year: To celebrate Secretariat’s birthday, Meadow Hall tours will showcase the Chenery Collection of rare Meadow Stable memorabilia. Attendees also will have the opportunity to meet members of Secretariat’s original team. A special showing of Disney’s feature film Secretariat will include commentary from team members, as well as from jockey Otto Thorwarth, who played Secretariat jockey Ron Turcotte in the film.
The festival also will welcome the state 4-H EquiSmartz competition for a third year.

The After Hours social at Union Station at Bowling Green was well attended. Jay Johnson provided a great selection of goodies, in his establishment. The Caroline Chamber is accepting nominations for the 2015 C.I.V.I.C. Award (Community Involvement and Volunteerism in Caroline).
Criteria for the nominees for this award must be a resident of Caroline or employed by a business office located in Caroline. They must be respected by their peers and have a record of success in their chosen field. A self-starter and willing worker, supporting non-profit or charitable events and organizations that benefit the community. It is not required that nominees be a member of the Chamber of Commerce, nor the nominee be a member of the Chamber of Commerce. Forms submission deadline is May 7.
Award dinner is May 21 at Giuseppe’s Restaurant, 5:30. Dinner at 6 p.m. Cost: $20/pp. Cash bar. Please RSVP to email@example.com or 448-5264.
